Shakira Does It Again! Lays Brick At Colombian School

Shakira is one Strategic Chic! She visited Cartagena, Colombia, to lay the first brick  for a new school being built in the Colombian city. This was done in conjunction with philanthropist Howard Buffett, the mayor of the city Judith Pinedo and members of her Pies Descalzos (Barefoot) Foundation. This kind gesture will benefit 1,500 boys and girls directly as well as 58,000 residents of the community. It will be recalled that she recently donated the sum of $400,000 to help rebuild a school in Haiti. According to ExtraTv, Shakira said "I know that the world, little by little will understand that wherever there is a kid who is hungry and can't attend school... that kid should be a concern to all of us and our responsibility. I'm sure that this awareness will grow in each one of us, because the world has become a small neighborhood, and we should all be concerned about the issues that others have to face."  Reports reaching me confirm that this is the seventh school Shakira has opened in her native Colombia. It is so good to see stars like Shakira giving back to the less privileged in the society.
